This is a book for older readers as it has explicit sex descriptions in it, which is a pity because the rest of the story would appeal to younger readers.
Abby has just returned for her final term of Senior High after she was mauled by a grizzly bear and enduring multiple surgeries to try and repair her disfigured face.
Unfortunately this means that she must confront her pot smoking, swearing and bullying ex-boyfriend Mason and his posse of brain dead cronies.
Their bullying includes physically pushing her in corridors and calling her "bear bait" both to her face and online.
Abby realises on her return how shallow she and her previous friends were; caring so much about looks and material possessions. She is also confused by the actions of the guy she cheated on Mason with, Liam, who completely ignores her, making her think that all he cares about are how a girl looks.
This is a book about high school and the usual friendship issues and worry about the future with the added complications of disfigurement and PTSD. I thought the characters of her friends Simon, Tammy and Grace were great, but that the character of Abby wasn't quite believable as she wouldn't stand up to Mason and his bully boys.… (altro)
