Firemen and women belong to a group that work together, are dedicated to saving lives, and are often considered heroes whether rushing into fires or climbing a ladder to save a kitten that climbed too high. The firemen in Noah’s company are his colleagues but also excellent friends with some having already showed up in previous books. Noah has had an interest in his fellow fireman’s sister, for years but has never acted upon that interest and had good reasons, he thought, not to do so.

Anika is independent, owns her own beauty salon, employs a number of talented interesting people, is a good friend, and has been harboring a secret related to her health for almost a year when Noah shows up in her shop and then things begin to change. Yes, the coals that were covered and not let die suddenly receive a bit of encouragement and the relationship between Noah and Anika flames to life.

Noah never wanted to follow his father into the pig farming business and has plans to sell it and move on with what comes next. Anika has been dealing with health and business issues and might be at a point in time where she has time and energy for a relationship. The two are perfect for and with each other and it was a pleasure to read their story…even when things became tense, lives were threatened, people died, and family sometimes were a bit difficult.

Freya Barker is one of my go-to authors who always provides wonderful characters in lovely settings while providing believable difficult issues to deal with while falling into true and abiding love based relationships.

Rock Point Collection by Freya Barker
Four Book Collection

This is an author that once read would become a go-to and must-read author for me. When I saw this collection of four books, three of which I had not yet read, available, I snapped it up. Freya Barker has a unique ability to create a world that is populated by complex characters I’d like to have as friends and provides stories that have me rooting for the main characters to come out with one another in their lives forever. No two books are the same and each one provides a story that I love from beginning to end. So…here’s my take on the four books that introduce and FBI team that will provide over 1000 pages of enjoyment in one volume as each of them find their HEA with their perfect partner.

KEEPING 6: The introduction to the Rock Point Series sees Damian and Kerry meeting briefly in a case that Damian is involved in. Awhile later they meet again as Damian tackles another case involving stolen first edition high-value books and perhaps this time the time is right for a HEA.

CABIN 12: Next up is FBI Agent Jasper’s turn to find his HEA with Damian’s sister Bella. This time the FBI case deals with police corruption and medical professionals working together in criminal activities that include murder. It also deals with a character dealing with depression swept under the rug but dealt with through the story.

HWY 555: This is the one I had read before. Loved Luna going undercover with the MC, falling for Ouray, and the way her issues from the past were dealt with by the gentle hand of a dominant alpha. Makes me smile thinking about this story now twice read.

10-CODE: Marya and Jasper showed up in previous books in this series and both are worthy of one another. This time the criminal activity has to do with pedophilia and the story is a bit dark. Both characters have much in common and are perfect for one another.

I loved reading this boxed set and will no doubt read it again. I loved the characters and also the way the stories were told about them and the situations they were able to come out of on the other side of whole, healthy, and in the arms of their perfect mate.

Edge of Nowhere by Freya Barker
Arrow’s Edge MC #7

Excellent addition to a wonderful series by one of my favorite authors ~ Great romantic suspense!

What I liked:
* Lindsey Zimmerman: office manager/legal assistant for her mother’s law office, amateur photographer, survivor of abusive relationship, kidnapping, and torture, outspoken, strong, resilient, perfect for and with Wapi
* Jordan Danvers “Wapi”: member of Arrow’s Edge MC, responsible, caring, protective, took time away for a few years, integral to the club, has had a thing for Lindsey for awhile that finally ignites, perfect for and with Lindsey
* Getting to catch up with the other members of the club and their families
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* The overlap with the High Mountain Trackers series – would love to see the characters of both series together again
* The suspense portion and eventually finding out who was after Lindsey
* Thinking about the young boys the club helps out – would like to hear more about them in the future
* The way the “brothers” in the club are there for one another
* Knowing that there is another book to look forward to soon

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about Lindsey’s past with the abusive, obsessed boyfriend and his reappearance in this book
* Wondering how some who are evil become the way they are and are willing to do the wicked things they do

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more by this author? Definitely

Snowbound by Freya Barker

As I began to read, I thought, “This seems familiar.” And found that indeed, I had read it in CHILL FACTOR, an anthology published in 2021. You know what? It was just as good this time as when I originally read it ;)

This story has two older characters that meet while Dag is on protection duty and Bobbie is waiting to testify at trial. They have kept a distance as Bobbie cooks to keep calm. As this short story progresses the tension mounts as Dag does his best to keep Bobbie safe. The story has it all with chemistry, tension, bad guys out to do evil, good guys to thwart them, and a happily ever after just waiting to happen. I am smiling as I think about the future this couple has to look forward to.
