Although a children's CD the songs are familiar to older Barenaked Ladies fans and are honestly pretty catchy. This is a CD with 24 original children's songs which is great, because that gives children a little bit more variety. The songs focus on different learning concepts like the ABCs and numbers.

Fun, catchy songs that frequently play with language and deal with some of the trickier aspects of English. One of my favorites was "Crazy ABCs", an alphabet in which all the beginning letters were either silent or pronounced in unexpected ways -- aisle, djinn, qat, et cetera. "A Word for That" builds some rather exotic vocabulary by singing around little-known body parts like the philtrum and uvula.

(Speaking of body parts, I was pleasantly surprised that they apparently don't need to call themselves 'BNL' anymore when singing to kids, the way they used to do in the nineties. Yay progress!)

Other songs deal with counting ("7 8 9") or art appreciation ("Drawing"), while others are just for fun. Not every one thrilled me, but overall, a solid album with a lot to enjoy.
