Not Okay is about young Peter, a disarmingly charismatic boy raised secretly captive by an abusive and manipulative pedophile. Told from his unique life perspective, having bee deprived of the norms of society who is inescapably drawn towards a mission that is as inevitable and justifiable as it is reprehensible. The darkness surrounding the surreal circumstance of Peter’s life is contrasted sharply by his own resourceful brilliance and off-beat wit which guide this richly bizarre coming-of-age story through an underground web of depravity right up to the astonishing edge of a moral conundrum between life and death: do real monsters deserve to die?

The language is raw, the violence is brutal, the story is irresistible, and the enlightenment and empathy gained by this amazing portrayal is deeply profound and mercifully rewarding. Axel weaves a disturbingly entertaining tale of a paradoxical hero who, but for our good fortune, might have been you or I.

Deeply disturbing novel, uncomfortably funny, intense and painful.

Peter Wilson survived a childhood in the hands of pedophile, now an adult and on his own, he tries to make sense of the world while the world makes no effort to maker sense of him.

He wants a place in life, but normal is just not an option for him. He exists in the under belly of life. The only people who give him the time of day are also damaged, suffering people.

But he has a plan. He's going back to where it all happened. he is going to stalk and kill the man that abused him. Will he succeed? And if he does, what will he do next.

What is most striking about this book is how authentic the voice is. While fiction, it is so real it makes you shutter.

Invaluable book for promoting compassion and understanding of those who are not on the inside exactly as people expect them to be by what they look like on the outside.

Loved the story and appreciate the tolerance, acceptance, and encouragement that it will bring to people (all ages). Couldn't get over the fact that it hasn't been edited (I'm an English teacher, sorry). I look forward to even owning another copy after it's MUGS errors are addressed and a final, polished copy is available. I do think it's an important book!
