Beth Armstrong has spent much of her life caring for and observing gorillas-first as a keeper and then as head keeper at the Columbus Zoo from 1982 to 1996. Voices from the Ape House di Beth Armstrong
I read this for a book club (I am not generally interested in learning about captive apes, as it bothers me to cage someone who is close to if not sentient), but this was an interesting read. I am familiar with some of it, as she worked at the Columbus Zoo which I have attended many times. This was the story of how this zoo lead the way with a few others to treating gorilla much more humanely. I really enjoyed reading the history by a very instrumental advocate for them.
