Political, social, and religious issues figure prominently as the friends try to catch a killer. An excellent choice for middle grade readers.
A satisfying sequel that just might be continued? Hope so!

I loved the multisensory descriptions in this book about a girl with synesthesia who has confessed to murdering a classmate.
"Dark chocolate, poured over velvet: that was how his voice tasted. I wanted him to follow me around and narrate the rest of my life." p 101
The main character's love interest is portrayed as nearly perfect and there's some sensuality I could have done without, which is why this didn't receive five stars.
It wasn't as suspenseful as I was expecting, but I enjoyed it more than I thought I would!… (altro)
