I was really hoping to like this book a lot more than I did, but some things seriously bugged me. For example:
1) The constant references to Dave Ramsey, and how awesome he is. Jon Acuff could have written another book extolling the virtues of Dave Ramsey, but instead he crammed them all in here so I could roll my eyes every couple of pages at the blatant, unapologetic hero worship.
2) The frequent and unnecessary reminders of the author's Christian faith. Definitely a major turn-off, and made for an awkward read.
3) He tried way too hard to be funny, and most of the jokes fell flat. I admit I chuckled a couple of times, but that was about it.
4) The sections in each chapter often felt out of place, like they'd been rearranged a dozen times and he'd forgotten to go back and re-edit the flow of the book so it would make sense.

Overall, the content felt rehashed and unoriginal. Acuff quotes a number of other authors whose books are much clearer and more focused than this one. So much fluff here, and not a whole lot of substance. Which is too bad, because I do believe that Acuff has something worthwhile to say. It's just difficult to find among all the humble-brags, irrelevant stories, and bad jokes.
