Lidocaine Drop by Tama. While reading Trevor Brown's blog, he mentioned another artist called Tama and included some examples of her artwork (he referred to her as a female, so I am assuming that she is female). I really enjoyed the juxtaposition of cut & innocent girls doing horrific and cruel things. I sent Katie at AkaTako.net an inquiry and she found three of her artbooks. I ordered all three. The first that I have looked at is リドカイン★ドロップ (RiDoKaIN DoRoPu). The artwork is as cute and appealing as I expected. If I have a complaint -- & I always have a complaint -- it is the handling of pages spanning the gutter. It is obvious that the works were not designed for incorporation into a novel. Most of the double page works have the focal point in or near the gutter. It is only a handful of works that suffer like this, but it detracts from an otherwise wonderful book. The last few pages of the book contain what appears to be a cute but disturbing picture book story. My goal is to be able to read it in the near future.
