This is my first experience with the "research guide" versions written by Mary Pope Osborne. As a child, I may be underwhelmed by this book as it is an informational text, and it is meant to make you learn. However, I can appreciate that the author is trying to enhance the readers knowledge while still trying to incorporate some entertaining aspects such as frequent illustrations. I think that the authors purpose for writing this book was to enhance the knowledge of her audience. I liked this book because of the photographs and the language. The photographs in this book aid the information that is given. For example, on page 77, it discusses the people of the rainforests and has photographs next to it. This helps the reader visualize exactly who these people are and what they look like. I also really like the language that is used. For an informational book, the language is very age appropriate for elementary schoolers and is not too hard. The purpose of this book is to inform. This book was great. It was divided into chapters based on each part of the rainforest. The author did not leave out any details, and included the climate, plants, animals and even people living in the rainforest. The information in the book was accurate which as a non fiction book is extremely important. The author was great at making this book exciting for children to read by including real pictures and having jack and Emily the children from the main series narrate it which helps the reader connect. The author connected a lot of the content to the readers life in comparing the things being taught to things the child sees everyday such as the plants or animals. I felt that this book was an excellent learning tool and really did not leave out any details down to the last insect! The main reason for writing this book was to inform the readers about rainforests and all of their pieces. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
