Great book--couldn't put it down! Just loved the way the story was presented to the reader, not giving away too much until it all came together... ( )

Read this a few months ago and forgot to move it to my 'read' list! My favorite Jenna Blum book is still her was Those Who Save Us, but this one was also good (especially reading about Minnesota.) ( )

I did enjoy this, especially the storm aspects and the unexplainable bond the siblings had. However, some of the ways Charles' mental illness was handled and described left a bad taste in my mouth. ( )

Het eerste boek van deze schrijfster 'Het Familieportret' schijnt heel goed te zijn (ik heb het nog niet gelezen). Dát en de omslagfotografie deed me dit boek kopen. De ingrediënten zijn veelbelovend: een tweelingbroer en -zus die elkaar al 20 jaar niet hebben gezien vanwege iets dat in het verleden is gebeurd. De broer heeft een bipolaire stoornis. De zus gaat naar hem op zoek en komt in de scene van tornadojagers terecht. Maar ik heb moeite gehad om het boek uit te lezen. De personages waren geen van allen sympathiek, sommige reacties onbegrijpelijk. De schrijfster laat wel zien dat ze research heeft gedaan naar de meteorologische omstandigheden waarin tornado's zich voordoen en de termen die in het 'jagers-wereldje' worden gebruikt, maar deze waren té zwaar aanwezig waardoor de balans in het verhaal werd ontregeld. To me, this book started out with the longest run on sentence. I was so surprised, that I read it over several times. What I did like were the short chapters.
I had read some really great books lately - so extremely well written, this book was more like a cheaper novel - a predictable love story. But, I actually liked it in the end. I read it pretty quickly. ( )
