Didn't like it enough to finish it; didn't hate it enough to rate it one star. I listened to 1.5 of 8 discs. ( ) I really like this series. This 2nd installment of the adventures of Jane True takes us mostly away from her home in Rockabill, ME to Ryu's haunting ground of Boston, MA. A mystery and manhunt involving an escaped ifrit, machinations of the fae, and two love interests? What more can you ask for. I really like Jane's character - sometimes in PNR, I want to beat the protagonist over the head and scream "Why are you being so stupid!?!" Not so with Jane. She's funny, aware of her weaknesses, and true to herself (no pun intended). Looking forward to the 3rd book. A good second book in the "Jane True" series. I am a big fan of origin stories, so this one didn't WOW me as much as the first one. But, though I enjoy most of the characters, I am becoming less a fan of Ryu the more the book goes on, I seriously hope that Ms. Peeler plays with the sexual tension between Jane and another male character (who shall remain nameless), that pairing shows promise. Also, once again, it would appear that as much as I might like the characters or enjoy the book, it really is more the "world" itself that I find interesting. It is reasonably well-crafted, though the storytelling could be better (it is rated as "good ") and I REALLY enjoy exploring this world. A good second book in the "Jane True" series. Valentine's Day is fast approaching, and Ryu - Jane's bloodsucking boyfriend - can't let a major holiday go by without getting all gratuitous. An overwhelming dose of boyfriend interference and a last-minute ticket to Boston later, and Jane's life is thrown off course. Ryu's well-intentioned plans create mayhem, and Jane winds up embroiled in an investigation involving a spree of gruesome killings. All the evidence points towards another Halfling, much to Jane's surprise... Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
