This book talks about become a World War Two pilot. This book starts with it explaining to you that you are a pilot recruited into British Royal Air Force (RAF). You are forced to learn morse code and learn common British lingo. You are trained and tested on typical pilot technique. It isn't long before you are called into combat, you experience the thrill and threat of battle. The book explains what pilots did to pass time and in the end bailing out in case of threatening danger. Pearl Harbor happened, and the book explains the events that occurred after the unfortunate moments. Which causes the American forces to join with Ailed forces. The war ends and you are sent home, back to America.

I gave this book a four stars. I gave the book four stars because it was very informal and it exceptionally full of facts. It had humorous factors that combined with the abundant amount of facts. Although, it wasn't as interesting as I would have liked it to have been. It was fun filled at times but then declined in a "interesting scale". Overall it did well on informing me on the topic. I would recommend it to other eager learners. It did give a reader a good sense and capable knowledge of the topic. ( )

The book starts off in 1934. You are 16 and you are crazy about aircraft and flying. You are paid in flying lessons. Your first flying job is a crop duster. In the 1930s you join the British royal air force, to fight the axis powers in Europe (World War II). You make it to Britain and began your training right away. You get in your new plane and are on your first mission. It's long before you are in your first fight. The U.S enters the war and is bring back their solders that they lent to the British. You are now under U.S. command. The war ends and there is peace at last.
I think this a great educational book. It teaches you about a serious topic in a different way. Not in the form of a textbook. I like the facts included in the paragraph and in the pictures. The pictures add a fun and colorful twist to the book. I also like how it tells it if you were the one entering the war. Overall this book is good for all ages. The pictures and colors attract the eye of young kids. The content is educational for older kids and teens. ( )

This book is an illustrated non-fiction introduction to the experience of being a fighter pilot during World War II that is sure to appeal to young readers, but lacks a significant amount of vital information and presents a troublingly simplistic view of war. The narrative follows a pilot, referred to as “you” throughout, from being a flying enthusiast in Texas through the war to veteran status. The text is mixed with cartoonish watercolor and ink illustrations that depict “you” as a broad-chested, strong-jawed blond American man. Though the book covers a wide range of information related to World War II pilots, there is almost a complete lack of diversity in gender and race, both in the illustrations and the narrative. The selection of information included makes little sense; the Axis powers are mentioned only in passing, but there is detailed information about what pilots ate and wore. What information is included paints a rosy picture of World War II, with cartoon violence and propaganda-like patriotism. Some of the jokes are funny, and some aren’t. The reading level is appropriate to the book’s interest level and assumed familiarity with the history of World War II. Though there are Briticisms throughout, they are explained in small-print asides. This book will catch the interest of children interested in war or flying, but there are surely more thoughtful resources. Not Recommended. Grades 4-6. ( )
