Down-to-earth, unglamorous, but humorous account of life on an American tour - dicky stomachs, the side effects of crossing through one time zone to another, having to share hotel rooms with fellow band members, etc. Then there's the wobbly sound checks, promoters who don't have a clue and the stand-offs with other bands over billing. All the same, you know that Hunter wouldn't want to be anything other than a rock star, and he writes with self-deprecating wit. It's worth remembering, though, that this is the 1970s, and some readers may object to women being described as 'birds', 'slags', etc. Otherwise, it's a must. Ian Hunter's Diary of a Rock 'n' Roll Star has received a litany of plaudits and been described as "an enduring crystallization of the rock musician's lot, and a quietly glorious period piece" by The Guardian. A brutally honest chronicle of touring life in the 1970s, and a classic of the rock writing genre, Diary of a Rock 'n' Roll Star remains the gold standard for rock writing. This edition includes new content from Hunter and a foreword from Johnny Depp. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
