Summary: This book uses the Disney characters from Winnie the Pooh as illustrations for real life situations. Piglet joins his friends to go on a picnic. The trouble is the picnic area is on the other side of the river and everyone would have to cross over on a huge log without falling. Piglet is small and crossing the log looks very scary to him. Everyone eventually crosses over except Piglet. He really wants to go but is faced with uncertainty. His friends try to encourage him by reminding him of his past bravery. He gathers up his courage and attempts to bravely cross the log. He makes it to the other side and all his friends are cheering. He believed in himself and did it. Personal Reaction: I really enjoyed reading this book. I always enjoyed Winnie the Pooh when I was growing up. I like the lesson this book teaches about believing in yourself. I know I have done things throughout the years that have required courage and bravery to face certain situations. I had to believe in myself to make it through at times. This book encourages one to be brave and take that step towards whatever one is facing that is uncertain. Extension Ideas: 1. Have the class write in a journal about a time they were scared about something and were brave and believed in themselves. 2. Have the class make two columns on a sheet of paper. On the left side, have the children write down what they might have been scared to do. On the right side, have the children write down what they did to overcome those fears and accomplish the task. Discuss as a class and then hang the papers up around in the classroom as a reminder to believe in themselves. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

(My Pooh Project: I love Winnie the Pooh, and so does my wife. Having a daughter gave us a chance to indoctrinate her into the cult by buying and reading her every Pooh book we came across. How many is that? I’m going to count them this year by reading and reviewing one every day and seeing which month I finally run out. Track my progress here:
