The illustrations are lovely. ( ) I give it 4.5 stars. Mostly because a certain character that I love from the movie doesn't make an appearance. But also because it did feel just a tad too simplified. This was just a nice light read that just felt refreshing and a nice way to end August. I liked that it was in poetry style. And I enjoyed the parts that invoked "The Night Before Christmas." I liked the art style as well because it very much brought to mind the characters as I always knew them from the movie. "I'm sick of the scaring, the terror, the fright. I'm tired of being something that goes bump in the night. I'm bored with leering my horrible glances, And my feet hurt from dancing those skeleton dances. I don't like graveyards, and I need something new. There must be more to life than just yelling, 'Boo!'" — Jack Skellington Five big stars for this one. Full disclosure that I am a huge fan of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" animated movie. According to Wikipedia, "'The Nightmare Before Christmas' originated in a poem written by Burton in 1982 while he was working as an animator at Walt Disney Productions." The ebook version I borrowed through Hoopla is a twenty year anniversary edition, with a few added illustrations, plus audio narration by Christopher Lee. I must say that Lee hits it out of the ballpark with his voice and interpretation of the short story. Even though I am marking this as completed on Goodreads, I plan go back and read/listen to the story several more times before the due date. (FILMAFFINITY) Jack Skeleton was so sad that his land was just of Halloween, so he went out to find something more. He went through the door that was a tree, and he took things back to his town to make it Christmassy. He did fail at trying to take over Christmas, but Santa did go to Halloweenland to bring Christmas. Just like Jack wanted. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
