Based on the reviews I’d read about this book, I did not have high hopes. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I found it hard to put down. Yes it is not a new plot, but it’s well done and the characters are likable...with the exception of the few you aren’t supposed to like. This was my first book by C. J. Box and I look forward to more. ( )
wasn't too bad....not the best, and a bit predictable, but not too bad. I've read another Cj box that has cody as the main character so it was nice to hear and intro story about him too. ( )
It was a surprisingly fast read. I was not always impressed by the way things were going, the plot choices were a bit too coincidental or far fetched at times, but... I liked it.
I just hope that IRL people that are supposed to protect & to serve and uphold the law make other choices when things turn bad. ( )
The pistol-packing intervention of a deranged mountain man who may be ever so faintly on the side of the angels signals an eventual renunciation of theme in favour of action, but McGuane’s bootstrap heroism holds the interest.
