Not many things make grumpy Old Man Fookwire happy; the only thing he loves is birds. He loves feeding and painting them, so he sets up bird feeders every summer. The birds loved the birdfeeders.... but so did the squirrels. Suddenly, all of Old Man Fookwire's hard work is being devoured by the squirrels. Old Man Fookwire is furious! Thus begins a war between the squirrels and Old Man Fookwire. Eventually, Old Man Fookwire gets his way and his birds are able to enjoy the birdfeeders. When the birds leave to fly south for the winter, the squirrels realize Old Man Fookwire is left bereft and unhappy, so they decide to cheer him up. Old Man Fookwire realizes the squirrels are not so bad after all and learns to forgive and care for them. Those Darn Squirrels! is a humorous story that teaches forgiveness and appreciation for trying to make things right. ( ) "Old Man Fookwire is a grump who only likes to paint pictures of birds that visit his backyard. The problem is, they fly south every winter, leaving him sad and lonely. So he decides to get them to stay by putting up beautiful birdfeeders filled with seeds and berries. Unfortunately, the squirrels like the treats, too, and make a daring raid on the feeders. The conflict escalates—until the birds depart (as usual), and the squirrels come up with a plan that charms the old grump." The students love that Old Man Fukewire looks like a bird himself! nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
