We're planning on buying a house next year, so I got this book from the library so I could get a head start on knowing what's involved and what we'll be getting ourselves into. After reading it, I feel so much less overwhelmed by the idea, and much more informed about the whole process - I can't even begin to say how much I learned from this book. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone thinking about buying a house, and I'll definitely be purchasing my own copy of the new edition when it comes out in January. ( )

I wasn't really able to appreciate this book until I actually bought a house, last year. And it was definitely helpful, from what to look for, to how to navigate the whole process. Not that there weren't bumps, but not anything that any book could have helped with. I would recommend it to anyone who feels like they need some kind of guide through the process. And I really enjoyed some of the examples offered - why people were or were not happy with specific aspects of the houses they purchased.

Reading through the book bit by bit, looking at the extra materials on the CD-ROM and completing a few of the wishlists and checklists, have helped me to better understand the entire process involved in buying a home. This is a great resource for anyone looking to buy their first home, offering expert help, as well as little paragraphs sprinkled throughout the chapters from actual home buyers describing their experiences. This is definitely a resource I am keeping close to me as I continue exploring home choices and begin the process of visiting and finding my first home! ( )
