This is a good story for first graders as I has a paragraph of text on every other page and it has many different rhyming words. The book tells a story of a family and all of their barn animals who escaped and how the family tires to get the animals back into their pens. ( )

It had rained a lot and a little Model T with a family in it was trying to get home. They couldn’t continue down the rud because a bunch of pigs were laying in the mud. The brother got out to try and shoo the pigs but they didn’t move. More farm animals came to the mud in the rud and the rest of the family tried to shoo them but none of them moved. It wasn’t until Grandma got out of the car and screamed “Time for sup!” that all the animals finally left to go get their dinner, and in all the commotion Grandma fell in the mud, which she was not happy about. She decided that it was time to go. ( )
