Set on the prairie, this is an updated version of the familiar story about a girl and her grandmother and a not-so-clever wolf.

This twist on the plot in this version of Little Red Riding Hood was a bit too much for me, but it was fun nonetheless. I enjoyed the humor that the author added to the storyline, and how the author made the wolf become a worker at her new muffin shop after he stole the muffins. I believe kids would enjoy reading this version of the story as it offers a lot of funny and witty lines. The book also provides more difficult words which would be a great segue into vocabulary lessons. ( )

This version of Little Red Riding Hood by Lisa Ernst is not my favorite. This version of this famous tale uses somewhat gaudy and cheeky language. I have a hard time getting through the book without cringing at the phrases. Ernst used language like, "country bumpkins, scoundrel, muddled brains, and ancient granny." For a children's book, it just came off as tacky an uninteresting. ( )

This version of Little Red Riding Hood has a unique and surprising twist at the end of the story. It would be great for compare and contrast lessons on different versions of the story. ( )

The Little Red Riding Hood has always been a story I have loved since I was a little kid. This story is a little different than the one I have read, but it is very cute! I think toddlers and older children will love this story. I also think children will enjoy the differences between the old and new version if they are able to read both books. ( )
