ANOTHER ADVENTURE WITH BONNIE BUMBLE!

The main character is Bonnie Bumble. Bonnie baked six plum turnovers, but only ate five. When Bonnie got up to do her daily chores, she turned upside down. (WHOOPS!) Upside-down Bonnie tries to milk the cow and gathers the eggs however she fails. The milk "SPLASHED" and the eggs "SMASHED". "This will never do!", said Bonnie Bumble. She goes back into the kitchen and finds her last plum turnover. Bonnie eat is and guess what happens!? Bonnie is "RIGHT-SIDE UP"!
Bonnie looks over and sees that her dog ate the crumbs off the floor. (OH NO!) Bonnie's dog has turned upside-down.

Author:
The author included obvious prediction into this book. Prediction can be easily taught to children with the book. Children will predict what will happen when Bonnie does her daily chores, upside-down. Children can also predict as they see the dog eating the crumbs, what will happen. Bonnie Bumble's name is an alliteration, which is also including in all of the titles in Bonnie Bumble's world.
On the back slip, the author includes where the idea of this book came from. The idea for this story began when her kids were little. 'A family favorite is pineapple upside-down cake. We joked about how it must be eaten upside down. The same with turnovers.' Children sometimes do think silly things and this book brings their silly thoughts to life.

My Experience:
The whole "upside down" thing of this book reminds me of the book called "Silly Sally" by Audrey Wood. "Silly Sally" had imprinted on me when I was a child and I completely forgot about it until reading this book. (Even though I haven't read that book in the past 15+ years, I can still somewhat quote parts as if it were a song). I suggest that you check out Audrey's book, "Silly Sally" if need a book with repetition that will make children laugh. Also, check out the rest of Phyllis Root's book to explore the adventure of Bonnie Bumble. ( )

When a young girl decides to eat some plum turnovers, she was in a for a great surprise when they made her literally turn over! This made her chores very hard to do. This book is a silly book that can help young children understand sharing as well as counting. ( )

3.5 stars rounded up because the average rating is lower than that. Cute, funny, clever, and you gotta love the expressions on the animal's faces. Not Root's best effort - I didn't realize how prolific and versatile she is. But def. a good book for early readers and families that's a little different than the Frog & Toad, Henry & Mudge kinds of books. ( )

Root wanted the readers to enjoy this book by making the children laugh. Craig did a excellent job illustrating the book with the story because it made the story to be funny. When Bonnie Bumble eats plum turnsover for breakfast then turns upside the rest of the story. The children will giggle because Bonnie is upside the whole time and walking with her hands. ( )

Bonnie Bumble ate five plum turn overs for breakfast. The next thing she knew she turned over upside down. She went all day doing her chores for the day, including gathering eggs. Imagine gathering eggs turned upside down! Yeah, they smashed right out of the basket! Later that evening Bonnie ate the last turn over leaving crumbs all over the floor. Soon after she turned back over right side up. During that time Bonnie's dog was eating the crumbs off the floor. Uh oh what will happen next?
This was a very cute book.I would really enjoy reading this to a class! ( )
