Just fizzing with fascinating stories about the evolution of the notebook and its multiple uses. We would not be the humans we have become without it. Starting in the 1300s to the present day, following in the footsteps of known genius and the lesser known practitioners. Illustrated throughout.

Not surprisingly the stories are mostly about the lives of men, women creeping in only lately, and for me the only disappointment was only two women were illustrated: Agatha Christie and Madam Curie. Surely Virginia Woolf deserved more than just a mention.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. I can't imagine anyone not enjoying this volume. Probably my book of the year. ( )
