I received an audio review copy of this book for an honest review. Thank you!

This is the last book of the Sweater Weather series, but the first one I read or in this case listened to..
It's also my first book by Jenny Proctor, but deinitely not my last!

This book is about Gracie, a classical musician playing the cello who swore to herself to never again date a hockey player and her neighbor/landlord as it turns out who is - of course - a professional hockey player, who is also into classical music and books and a bit awkward/shy.

Like everyone else I loved Felix, which has nothing to do with him being a goalie, because I really don't care for that stuff and don't really get why sports and being famous are such a big thing in romances... but anyway - Felix is great!

He's quiet, thoughtful and considerate, aware of his own weaknesses and pretty much the perfect book boyfriend.

It took me a bit longer to decide if I like Gracie because her "rule" about hockey players seemed a bit childish and judgmental at first, but in the end I understood where it was coming from, she got over it and I think she was an equally great character with her own flaws and struggles.

At the beginning I had a bit of a hard time getting into the story because around chapter 5 it felt like they both went from being curious about and maybe mildly interested in the other without being really aware / sure of it to absolutely infatuated even if in Gracies case trying to deny it.
But what confused me the most about it was that Gracie suddenly assumed Felix wanted to date her and even though we as readers/listeners know that he is absolutely interested, he didn't actually do or say something that should have given Gracie the impression, at least not in a way that should make her that certain about it.

After that I tried to get along with the sudden shift. (Maybe it's just me, but it felt very abrupt.)
But after a while I was on board and for me the book got better from chapter to chapter after that.

Forced proximity isn't always my thing, but here it was done very well and I could totally feel the emotional connection between Gracie and Felix and I think the music was a great way of showing that.

I also enjoyed the chapter with the text messages between the two.

There wasn't a third act breakup but a conflict I didn't totally agree with.
I get why Gracie was disappointed and even hurt, but I don't really think that Felix made that big of a mistake and it felt wrong when he said he had to achieve and to certain things to be valued, because for me it felt like he thought that he has do to exactly that to be of value for Gracie.
Like he is only good enough when he can take her to her audition.
Maybe it was the wrong decision to stay with the kid but I'm not even sure I agree with that...

BUT I absolutely loved the apology. It's really one of the best I've ever read. Self aware without being overly dramatic. And Gracies reaction is equally great because actually sometimes it's just about being seen and not about who's fault it was or who's guilty of what and Gracie forgives Felix because there isn't really something to forgive... Felix sees how Gracie felt when he wasn't there no matter the reason.

"My priorities have to be different now because I'm different now. I have to be different because I'm in love with you Gracie."
Felix, Chapter 22

Gracie reacts with a very sweet love confession which is kind of a big gesture without being totally over the top.

I know compared to modern standards this book is pretty innocent.
I still didn't like the talk of sex with hints of sleeping together without being married.
This might seem prudish and old fashioned, but I know I'm not the only one who likes their romances not containing pre-marriage intimacy so I wanted to mention it.
The book contains multiple kisses and make-out sessions, the rest is as said just hinted at and doesn't even happen in the time frame we see.

That being said - I really enjoyed the book and will read another one by Jenny Proctor.

The narrators did an awesome job. For an audiobook it's important to like the voice and way of speaking and I liked both very very much! ( )

Oh my heart! What a fabulous end to a fantastic standalone series! This book had so many layers and while it’s a clean hockey romance, it was so much more. I loved Felix and Gracie! When we first got a glimpse of them in Just Don’t Fall by Emma St. Clair, I couldn’t wait to read their story. It was even better than I imagined.

Felix is a big, strong, handsome hockey player. Gracie is a professional cellist, his neighbor, & hates hockey. He falls for her, but can he convince her to fall for him? When a pipe bursts and Gracie has no where to go, she stays in Felix’s guest room until it’s fixed. That’s when the sparks fly and Gracie learns there’s a lot more to Felix than hockey.

I loved Felix! You just want to wrap him up in a big hug. Suffering from social anxiety, I loved how he dealt with the pressures of being a hockey player. I loved his love for books and classical music! He scoots his chair over to the wall so he can hear Gracie practice! *sigh* While he falls hard for Gracie, he never pushes. He just dangles that carrot in front of the rabbit waiting for a bite.

Gracie is just as amazing. As the story progresses you find out why she hates hockey. While she tries hard to resist Felix, once she gets to know the sweet teddy bear underneath, her walls quickly crumble. Her grand gesture near the end is *chef’s kiss!*

It’s a heartfelt, funny, darling romance that’ll have you swooning, laughing, and even shedding a tear or two. Other favorite moments: Ivy, Felix’s relationship with his grandma, text messages, several grand gestures, the bonus epilogue (don’t miss it!). I also loved all the cameos from the Sweater Weather series and hope there are more books in store for the Appies & Harvest Hollow gang!

This book can definitely be read as a standalone, but it’s even better if you’ve read Just Don’t Fall where Felix & Gracie first appear and the other books in the series. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author but also purchased through KU. All opinions are my own & voluntarily provided. ( )
