This is a story of modern fantasty in that the two animal-like characters in the story are given human characteristics such as talking, singing, wearing clothes, and playing in the leaves. The girls are excited for fall but they want the leaves to fall so that they can play in them. It is not too far-fetched as it is a plausible story for two girls if they were not animals.

This book is about two friends and their adventures in the fall. They are two animals, but they are like humans. They spend time trying to figure out how to get the leaves off of the tree. Eventually they "sing" the leaves off of the tree. This book is a good example of Fantasy because the animals are the main characters and they are wearing clothes and talking to each other. ( )

Genre: This is a fantasy book. Is does seem like realistic fiction because the events that takes place are likely to occur in real life, but since animals are personified it a is fantasy, and because the story is believable. ( )

Age appropriateness: Early/middle elementary
Review: This book is an example of fantasy. It is a fairly realistic story dealing with fall and friendship, however it has a sense of fantasy because Suzy and Emily are personified animals.
Plot: The plot of this story was interesting. It starts off with a problem (getting the leaves off the trees), and there are several solutions that a tried, but the plot ends abruptly and does not make sense because all of a sudden when they sang all the leaves fell of the trees. It did not give closure that was expected.
Media: Mixed media: watercolor and ink etc. ( )

This book is an example of fantasy. The stor is believable because i can certainly see children trying some of the same techniques to help the leaves fall. The main characters are animals that are given personified qualities, so they appear to be children. They act more like children than they do animals. The plot of this story is about the adventure the girls have as they try to help the leaves fall of the trees. It is obvious how they see the problem, then try several different techniques to solve the problem, until finally in the end there is resolution as the leaves all fall, due to the wind though not them. All of the elements of the plot are included easily and this story relates well to young students. I would use this book in a primary classrom. The type of media used is mainly water colors. There are a few details added in with pencil such as outlining characters, but everything else is water colors. ( )
