This is a classic compendium of Hitler and his Rise and Fall (and the denouement of the drama of that period in the North of Germany and finally at Nuremberg in 1946). His thesis of the bad Germans should probably be considered an idea from a specific post-war period whose time has passed, though. Shirer answers his critics very briefly and unapologetically in the recent version of this work that I read. In lieu of everyone calling everyone else a Hitler whether it's because we condone torture or advocate giving health care to the poor, I thought it useful to review the book: http://driftlessareareview.wordpress.... excellent high-level history of nazi germany before, during, and after written by a journalist who was there. The first book a person should read on the third reich and then move on to the other areas of interest about the Nazis or that period of history. Simply the best overview written. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
