This book gives a brief overview of some of the animals that can be found on a farm and some highlights of what they do. (For instance, a baby horse can start walking on the day it is born.) There's really no story here in terms of plot, just an introduction to these animals. Still, it's sure to be interesting to young children who are just learning these facts about animals. In addition, there's the occasional remark from these animals, such as the baby ducks asking the baby chicks to come for a swim. The delicate illustrations are both accurate and inviting, making the reader want to reach out and cuddle the kittens, pet the puppies, or touch the silky hairs of the piglets. The version I have is the little Little Golden Book one, so it's miniature status is perfect for tiny hands. ( )
