Oh my god, wat een herkenbaar boek. Ik heb zo veel onderlijnd. Wow.
De ondertitel is: Leer grenzen aan te geven in ongezonde familierelaties. Daarom koos ik er voor om dit boek te lezen. Ik wist (na jaren therapie) dat ik problemen heb met mijn familie; nu weet ik (dankzij dit boek) dat ik absoluut niet de enige ben. Dat wist ik natuurlijk wel al enigszins maar negatief over je familie praten blijft toch nog steeds taboe. Daar brengt Nedra Glover Tawwab verandering in en daar ben ik haar heel dankbaar voor!
In het eerste deel leer je welke soorten van disfunctioneel gedrag voorkomen, in het tweede deel gaat het over jezelf genezen (misschien zelfs door afstand te nemen van iemand die niet wil veranderen) en in het laatste deel leer je problemen oplossen in verschillende relaties (broer-zus, met tantes, schoonfamilie, pluskinderen,…).
Aan het einde van elk hoofdstuk staan er een paar vragen, die je al schrijvend moet beantwoorden. Schrijvend opdat je zo een beter inzicht in de situatie en jezelf kan krijgen. Die heb ik nog niet gemaakt. Ik ben een beetje door het boek gevlogen; omdat het best confronterend om te lezen was. Ik vond het soms ook wat onoverzichtelijk, maar dat kan aan mijn mentale toestand hebben gelegen ;)
Ik heb in ieder geval heel veel herkend en onderlijnd. Dat alleen al maakt dit boek de moeite waard: ik voel me minder alleen. ( )
