Didn't care for this one the writing was way too much talk and no show. The story totally neglected world building in favor of conversation about it, if that makes any sense. I also felt that everyone just accepted the aliens and everything to easily, it struck me as unrealistic. Truthfully just found it boring. ( )

If the title/cover caught your eye because you're a fan of this style of sci fi, you'll likely get something from Ter'roc. The early sum up from me is that this book is completely fine if you love the style, but it won't make you fan if you aren't one.
There's a lot here I like that just doesn't mesh by the end. Ever since World War Z, I have liked a book that jumped around between character points of view. It is incredibly difficult to pull off well, however, and that shows a bit here. Characters I start to get behind and care about disappear in lieu of a character that falls a bit flat.
I really like the angle of aliens being on Earth from the beginning; it has a very Doctor Who feel to it. I found myself wishing more of the book was devoted to that than to the overall plot the book starts turning out partway through.
Do not take my review to say you shouldn't try this book. Like I said to start, if you're a fan of this style of science fiction, the book will hit perfectly fine. If you're a fan of 'The Martian', it will leave you wanting. ( )

Thanks to LibraryThing Early Reviewers program for allowing me to receive this book I found this to be an outstanding story. To imagine aliens having lived on our earth since the beginning of time all along planning to save humanity. As I read the first few chapters about thousands of years early in the history of our planet I couldn't imagine what they had to do with the story line. Then as characters and story lines are added to the story, in future time, it all pulls together. After reading "we are coming for you, do not resist us or you shall all die" you get pulled right into the story. I thought there were just the right amount of characters involved in the story where it wasn't at all hard to follow. I don't want to put any spoilers here but once started the book is very hard to put down. The story line follows a somewhat simple path until about 80% into the book where he whole thing is thrown into chaos. From here to the end is the best part of the adventure. After finishing the book I had to go back and read the first chapters to completely understand what was going on then. If you like reading alien - human story's this is for you. Can't wait for the next in the series. ( )

This is a story of the end of the world, or is it really? The fate of the world lies in the hands of a few chosen people. But are these people, and the whole of humanity, the real owners of this planet? What has come before? What will come after? A gripping read in a curious and well developed science fiction take on the universe. ( )

Thanks to LibraryThing Early Reviewers program for allowing me to receive this book.

There have always been aliens on earth watching over the humans. The humans have been blissfully unaware until Heidi one of our protagonists makes this discovery.

We don’t know what sinister or rather plans these aliens have for the humans but they are set on recruiting Heidi along with other humans. And while on this venture they begin to unearth secrets and start to question the reality of their situation.

The summary of this book is catchy, especially with a start like this one: “We are coming for you. Do not resist us or you shall all die.”

I was drawn into this story by the first few hundred pages with the introduction of Heidi and her discovery of the aliens while exploring the railroad tracks. I expected the narrative to fully explore Heidi’s journey and her encounter with the aliens but this wasn’t the case as the story picks up many characters and their views along the way.
And that is when it lost me.

I found it hard to relate and get into the story with all the differing points of view from humans and aliens alike.

There were a few storylines & characters that could have been explored a little more but with so many plot lines they seem to get lost.

There is a long-standing cliche that I absolutely get annoyed by and it's “The Chosen One”. I am not going to get into how this chosen one is explored in this book … just google this phrase and you will get a clue.
I almost Dnfed the book at this point.

This book has many interesting subplots worth reading. If you are looking to read an aliens and humans story and explore the many character's expositions this book will be right up your alley. As this is the first book in a trilogy, I am curious to see where the author takes this series as there are many open points worth exploring. ( )
