This immensely helpful book was such a great resource that my district's gifted ed department ended up purchasing it for every AIG teacher! It is a great look at how to make coteaching and collaboration work between the AIG teacher and classroom teachers. The collaboration piece can be tough and this book is a great tool to help make that happen! ( )

This book is primarily for educators teaching gifted students, and isn't meant to be a parent resource. Heavily researched and thorough, it's a helpful guide for those developing curriculum and determining how best to meet the needs of their gifted and 2E students. It's full of examples and rationale for differentiation and how to implement it. Recommended for these admins and educators!

I requested this book for a few reasons: 1) As a child, I was involved in several gifted education programs at my public school, and I was a part of the honors program as a university student, and 2) my partner is studying education and has similar experience in gifted education programs. Mofield and Phelps's book is well organized and well designed, and I was pleased to see a chapter specifically addressing gifted education in regard to students from diverse backgrounds.

Collaboration, Coteaching, and Coaching in Gifted Education is for all educators who work with gifted students. The book discusses not only why collaboration is needed but also how to do it. Differentiation is one of the most challenging aspects of teaching gifted students. The authors delve into differentiation offering strategies to accomplish this task. In addition to teaching strategies, this book also offers ready-made resources that can be used by the classroom teacher. This book will be valuable source that the teacher will refer to often. ( )

Well thought out book on teaching gifted students in larger schools. The mixture of gifted teaching with collaboration, coaching and co-teaching with other classes makes the teaching more agreeable and interesting to the students. Much of the book is focused on working with others in a school setting. There is often hesitation about combining classroom teaching with gifted students, and suggestions on how to over come these hesitations are explored. Some information on selected and applied politics is also given.
Interesting observations on the problems some gifted students may have, such as poverty, English language difficulties, bullying and other difficulties and barriers. The authors also have suggestions on how to include parents and outside volunteers in coaching and collaborative activities and lessons.
Excellent book for new teachers in gifted and talented programs. This book explores very clearly how to share strategies in order to support gifted learners. Plenty of diagrams, worksheets and tables. Recommended for gifted educators, administrators and parents of gifted and talented students. And gifted students with higher reading skills will be interested too, I betcha! ( )
