The picture book You Wouldn’t Want to Be a Viking Explorer! By Andrew Langley and illustrated by David Antram explains to young readers what it was like to be a Viking explorer. This is a nonfiction picture book with many interesting facts about Viking life. The illustrations are very colorful and catching to the eye. This book is written on a fourth grade reading level and also contains a glossary in the back with all containing vocabulary words. The book follows Vikings through their travel by boat, making a settlement, how they hunt, and fighting enemies. It provides some really interesting informational facts that are easily read and understood through the colorful illustrations.
I think that the story You Wouldn’t Want to Be a Viking Explorer! is a very interesting book that many young readers would enjoy. It provides a lot of information and also tells several jokes. I think this holds interest. I like how it has a heading on each page that tells about what each section is about with an interesting title.
I would use this book in the classroom in the following ways:
• It would be great for students who like to read nonfiction stories. It has great pictures and facts provided.
• The glossary in the back has a lot of great vocabulary words. I think it would be a great use for a vocabulary quiz if you were learning about Viking times.
I think I would definitely use this book in my classroom if it fit with the curriculum. If not, it would be a good book for a student who likes nonfiction. It is very well written and contains some humor which is a nice touch. Overall it is a great book! ( )

Viking Explorers lived a rough life. This book describes the hardships of the Vikings lifestyle and past.
