This book, for me at least, was a slight improvement on the rest of the series that I've read so far. There were less leaps and presumed knowledge, but still had a lot of room for improvement. Maybe it was down to the fact that it was focused on just the story of Black Panther within the Civil War event, rather than jumping perspective every 5 minutes.

Either way, a move in the right direction and a very enjoyable read... but I would still say it's better for people already familiar with the Marvel Universe rather than people trying to get to grips with it. ( )

This TPB is one gigantic balancing act by T'Challa and Ororo. And all this happens just after they've been married and should be settling into a nice royal honeymoon.

Instead they get enmeshed in the Civil War. Going around the world to check with everyone from Dr. Doom to Captain Britain.

They then come to the US and try to meet with the President, but that doesn't go well, and then Iron Man and Captain America get involed and it turns into quite a messy, messy situation.

Overall I liked it. The relationship between T'Challa and Ororo was really cool and was probably my favorite part of the TPB. I will say that the ending was a little abrupt. ( )

I was never very interested in Black Panther as a kid. He didn't have any cool gadgets or shoot laser beams. He was just a hand to hand guy. But I'm really digging him as an adult. He also has gadgets so that helps, but he's just overall totally badass. Looking forward to reading more and to the movie. ( )

"When I heard that Storm was marrying the Black Panther I didn't have much of an opinion on the matter; I guess I was disappointed that this would take her away from the x-books, but at the same time I appreciated what could have represented some character development for her. To me, characters moving to other stages in life, such as marriage, is a good thing. I didn't understand why people were complaining so much, talking about an editorial directive for her to "settle down and make babies."

My god, they may have actually been right. While there's only one reference to baby-making in the whole thing, Storm is generally treated like the idiot woman throughout this whole adventure, incapable of making good tactical or political decisions. Even worse was the way Black Panther kept explaining things to her: "Now honey, this is the Blue Area of the Moon. Can you say Blue Area of the Moon?"

Bitch, she's probably been there more times than you have. Ever heard of the Dark Phoenix Saga? Big battle between the X-Men and the Imperial Guard? When Jean died? (Okay, okay, the second time out of like three deaths, I know, but this was the one everyone remembers.)

I know Hudlin is trying to explain things to the reader, but please, don't use Storm to do it, it's insulting." ( )
