So, I'm at a distinct disadvantage, coming at this without having read any of the House of X or Powers of X stuff, so some of the stuff occurring on Krakoa just slides over my head. Still, the art and writing teams do a good job of balancing comfortable Wolverine with savage Wolverine.

There's still a part of me that misses the Claremont/Cockrum/Byrne days of Wolverine, before he became an overexposed Marvel character, and a household name thanks to Hugh Jackman.

Regardless, the first story, while a little info-dumpy, wasn't bad, however I much preferred the second story. Much more fun, much more tightly tied to Wolverine in a way I never expected, but think I'm gonna dig. ( )

The first story feels like an X-Force story, and is nothing special, except for the moments of Logan running around with children on Krakoa. The second story, with the vampires, is where this issue shines. It brings old enemies, and a compelling explanation of the combination of wolverine and vampires. ( )
