( ) A well deserved 5 stars!! Expect each chapter to hold a cliffhanger that refuses to let you put the book down. I seldom find a book that's listed as a thriller is really that, but this one is an exception. The story offers suspense unlike any I have read in a long, long time. Who can you trust? Obviously no one, sometimes not even yourself. What defines friendship and how far will people go to establish a bond that can turn out to be a trap? You may want to be certain your curtains are closed, the windows secure, and the doors are all locked tight before you walk out the door or close your eyes tonight. Sleep tight, IF you can. LOVE IT!! The writing was fantastic by debut author Leah Konen, but what lost me is definitely what many people LOVE about this style of reading. I struggled with the believability factor and my inability to connect with any of the main characters and therefore was just not invested in the storyline. It was well written, it just wasn’t for me! Thank you to NetGalley and GP Putnam for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. I won this book from Goodreads. The writing was very good for a debut author but I just could not connect with the characters- they just weren't developed enough. It seemed unlikely to me that Lucy would so quickly forge such a close relationship with Jack and Vera after leaving her abusive relationship with Davis. And I didn't even understand the appeal of Vera and Jack. The book was not predictable and there were definitely some big surprises in the last quarter of the book. But it didn't make up for the story itself and the fairly underdeveloped characters. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
