Everything Girl was everything I thought it would be and that is a good thing. I enjoyed the characters, the setting, and the romance. There were some fun moments when the "city girl" tries to navigate in the country, but Evie is no slacker. She may seem awkward, but she was tough too. Everything Girl was an easy read with a satisfying conclusion. I would recommend this book to any fellow romance reader and tell them to get ready for the slow-burn. I do not, however, understand the cover. The girl maybe, but the guy does NOT look like a cowboy/rancher OR ex-rodeo star. ( ) 5 stars I picked this book on a recommendation from a Mariana Zapata's group so I knew it would be a slow burn and boy I was not disappointed with that. I wasn't disappointed at all, actually. When I started closing my eyes and wanted to hide because I was embarrassed for Evie’s behaviour as much as she obviously was, I knew I was in for a really good book because that meant I could relate to her. She was a very lovable character, with all her qualities and flaws, insecurities and hidden strengths. Sure, I knew from the start where that was heading, the turns of events weren’t that unexpected, and I was not surprised one bit from Jack’s admission on the reasons behind his behaviours from the start. But that was ok for me. It was a light read and at the same time a much needed one. Because as much as it was a romance all right, it’s also a journey of self-discovery, from how lost you can feel when plans don’t go how you thought they would to finding happiness in the place you expected it the least. It was so much more than a romance, as much in that regard as in the relationships Evie developed with the other characters, Gabe most of all. I loved the banter going on between those two and laughed my ass off countless times thanks to them. Same goes for Ben and Evie. I really dig friendships, and I loved that she had that kind of relationship from the start with Ben. All in all, I would definitely recommend this book. Maybe don’t go there expecting lots of surprises in terms of plot twists (but who does when they pick up a romance book, seriously? The primary reason we love them is because they end up the way they do) but go there for a light read, one that will probably make you blush and want to hide if you connect to Evelyn, but that will also make you laugh and fall in love with that land and its people in Montana. Also, I'd love to see Gabe again in another book. Just to put it out there. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
Evelyn Mercer has always had a plan. She lives and breathes the plan. The plan and coffee. Go to law school. Check. Make Law Review. Check.Get competitive internship. Check.Land dream job. Double Check. That dream job? Yeah, it's a nightmare, and Evelyn is miserable with a capital M. When she reaches her misery threshold, Evelyn does the unthinkable and deviates from her plan. Her unexpected new job takes her to Pinehaven Ranch in the middle of nowhere Montana where Evelyn is faced with her biggest obstacle yet. No coffee shops within a 30-mile radius and her new boss' brother, former rodeo champion Jack Danvers. The three words that best describe Jack are stink, stank, stunning. He is perfection and he inexplicably seems to hate her on sight. But if there is one thing life has taught her, it's that she still has a lot to learn and Montana is full of surprises.
