Budding photographer Josie Saint-Martin has spent half her life with her single mother, moving from city to city. When they return to her historical New England hometown years later to run the family bookstore, Josie knows it's not forever. Her dreams are on the opposite coast, and she has a plan to get there. What she doesn't plan for is a run-in with the town bad boy, Lucky Karras. Outsider, rebel...and her former childhood best friend. Lucky makes it clear he wants nothing to do with the newly returned Josie. But everything changes after a disastrous pool party, and a poorly executed act of revenge lands Josie in some big-time trouble--with Lucky unexpectedly taking the blame. Determined to understand why Lucky was so quick to cover for her, Josie discovers that both of them have changed, and that the good boy she once knew now has a dark sense of humor and a smile that makes her heart race. And maybe, just maybe, he's not quite the brooding bad boy everyone thinks he is...… (altro)

I really enjoyed this read. I felt that it had some of my favorite elements in books, small towns, small town secrets. I also really like the long term relationship that was developed in this read. I also like the characters being into photography, and loved how that structured the books. I also was invested in the romance so much. I also really liked the family elements. It was super fast pace read and it is def a solid read. I also really liked josie as a character! I also really liked Lucky as well! ( )

There was a decent level of chemistry between Josie and her former childhood pal, Lucky, however, Lucky’s behavior didn’t always make sense to me to the point where I occasionally wanted Josie to tell him off for being so hot and cold towards her when there seemed no legitimate reason for him treat her that way.

I didn’t understand Lucky’s resentment over Josie moving away when they were twelve. I mean, the guy’s seventeen or something now and still hasn’t realized that as a kid Josie wouldn’t have had a choice when her mom decided to go? It just seemed ridiculous that he would continue to hold that against Josie. Then Lucky ignores her return to town for months I guess because he doesn’t want to be heartbroken if she leaves again yet he intervenes and takes the blame for something so that her mother won’t skip town with Josie again. If he didn’t want to be hurt by Josie again, didn’t want to get close to her again, you’d think he’d want her to be ushered out of town to make avoiding her that much easier but no he instead hurts his own reputation to enable her to stay? Like I said, it just didn’t make sense and nearly every contentious moment between Josie and Lucky ended up feeling contrived thanks to his behavior often feeling contrived.

Cousin Evie’s behavior was also on the puzzling side, not that there aren’t plenty of people who make unhealthy choices because they’re drawn to the wrong person, it’s just that I really needed some sort of tangible evidence as to what attracted her to Adrian as there really wasn’t a single moment featuring Adrian that allowed me to go okay so that’s why she’s struggling to break it off with him, it was just continuously baffling as to why anyone would spend time with this guy.

Since I did struggle with Lucky and his romance with Josie takes up a lot of space here, this doesn’t rate as one of my favorites from this author, but I was glad enough that I stuck with it for the well-written emotion when Josie’s mom finally speaks her truth, I just wish the rest of the book surrounding that moment had been as strongly crafted. A cute inoffensive teenage romantic comedy. It doesn't do anything differently from any other YA romance that I've read and some character moment irked me. But, overall Chasing Lucky is a lighthearted enjoyable read. ( )

This book was just fine for me. I felt that there was too much miscommunication and drama throughout the plot and I couldn't really bring myself to fall in love with any of the characters.

I honestly had more expectations from it and it just didn't live up to them.
