I like many readers on Amazon and Goodreads have watched the show and the movie and find that neither one pairs well with what I just finished. I love Stephen King so much I actually reread the book IT once a year around Halloween time. When you pick up this book, I know you are going to want to find out what is beyond The Mist and you get the spooky creepy factor well not sure if many will like that there is no clear description of the monster. What you do get which I love is how Mr. King reveals the monsters INSIDE the store as well as outside, and the psychology of fear and anger and the deadly combination of the two. The way the Mob mentality is depicted in this novella is very well done. The way King brings us right to the for front of fear and then piles on the death is pure perfection. Very well done. If you haven’t read this it is worth the couple hours it will take you to finish it. I have mixed feelings about this book. As always, King writes in a smooth and user-friendly fashion that makes for easy and page turning reading. He also has the ability to build suspense, which was evident in this work as well. However, one gets the feeling that King was crafting just one more work to add to his list and presumably income. There was nothing particularly interesting about the work, with the exception of the dynamic involving the old woman who prophesied the coming apocalypse. Otherwise, the creatures were simplistic and the ending was disappointing at best or lazy at worst. Worth a read if you are simply looking for something light that will not take much time or effort. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

This book was underwhelming. There were some good things about it, but I think that the book was too short to build up the story properly. The story only covers a few days, but would have made more sense if it covered a few weeks.
The book shows how a large group of people react when they are in a crazy stressful situation, stuck together in a building while a possible apocalypse is happening outside. The characters were good, but something was lacking for me, so I didn't care much about what happened to most of them. Some of the characters acted in ways that made no sense given the time frame that this novella covers.
The narrator, Will Patton, does a good job. He's one of the actors from Armageddon (the movie about the asteroid). ( )
