Ugh. This was an awful book. I only finished it because it was the assigned reading for my smutty book club. In my opinion, no amount of chemistry can make a controlling and cruel person attractive as a partner. The author wrote it so that he was "redeemed" at the end, but it felt like a flat redemption to me. Like, he's still a terrible person, but he's just not currently acting terribly anymore. Even the steamy parts of the book (and there were many) were unenjoyable because he's just such a horrible human being of a character. Nah. I rate this 0 out of 10. Don't waste your time. ( )

The premise was good, two people in a marriage by arrangement, modern day.
The Hero feeling forced into this arrangement, his father controlling a lot of the details.
The heroines motives seemed less desperate.
This just didn't work for me.
I could have handled the so called Hero sleeping with his ex after the marriage, not that I am saying it's right but he doesn't view it as a real marriage, he's hung up on his ex, he goes away for around a month after the wedding BUT.... he had sex with the heroine on their wedding night, then leaves her and spends time with his ex.
He would have been a cheat either way but it wouldn't have been so hard to take if he hadn't consummated his marriage I think I may, just may have been able to accept redemption for him but as it stands no.
He is hateful to her right throughout until the very last minute when we get about 20% of his regrets.
Many authors have written this troupe, hateful Hero forced into marriage, hung up or hurt by other woman in his past but this just doesn't work, not for me anyway.
