Entertaining sequel to Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site. This thoughtful rhyming book walks through a night of hard working construction vehicles on the night before Christmas. The verse on each page is clever as the author ties the machines job to a Christmas gift that is delivered while they sleep. Firetrucks are introduced in this book, in fact the construction vehicles are building their home and must have it done for them tonight! Of course they finish in time and everyone is tucked in tight. When they awake in the morning, each construction vehicle receives a present, a much needed replacement part for their truck!

This was adorable. The construction crew is getting one last job done before the holidays. For all their hard work they are surprised with presents. And we the reader send them all off with a goodnight.

All the rough-and-tumble construction vehicles from Sherri Duskey Rinker's Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site and Mighty, Mighty Construction Site return in this third picture-book, this time working on a project that must be done by Christmas. As each vehicle, from bulldozer to cement mixer, does his task and then is given a gift of his own, a building takes shape. This building - the town's new firehouse - might be said to be a gift to the town...

Construction Site on Christmas Night is only the second of the books in this series I have read, after the first one, and like that earlier title it pairs an entertaining tale told in rhyme with bright, colorful artwork. Tom Lichtenheld, who worked with Rinker on the previous titles, has been replaced by A.G. Ford, but the style is so similar that I could observe no real difference. Recommended to young vehicle and construction fans, and to anyone who has enjoyed Rinker's previous rhyming tales. ( )

Each truck or work truck is getting for christmas by doing their jobs. Throughout the story each truck gets a surprise. The way the story is written is through rhythmic patterns. The students can continue the rhymes in their own poems. ( )

The trucks are getting ready for Christmas, and are building special gifts! Little do they know there's a surprise waiting for each of them. This is a cute book, especially if you have kids who like construction and all the machines. Good for Pre-k and kindergarten. ( )
