They say that "confession is good for the soul" and after reading this book, that is the main theme here. The Kurtain Motel draws strangers into its walls and wraps its horror around all who enter making the strangers face their past bad deeds. It is where everyone who dares to enter the motel has to go through a "confession" process. It grabbed me from the get-go and took me into a spiral of horror. I will be looking forward to reading the rest of this series to see what kind of ride the author has in store for us readers. Four stars on this one.

I will say that this is definitely not the book to read during a storm at night. After car trouble Patrick is picked up by a priest and due to a storm they stop at a creepy motel. The setting was a perfect setup for this story. The “guests” find themselves plagued by their deepest sins. Something wants them to confess these sins. If you really want to creep me out then add in spiders. They are my biggest fear. This is told from multiple points of view. I happen to be someone who likes this. I don’t think I would ever want to be in a motel like the Kurtain Motel. This is just the first book in his Sin series so it ends a little bit differently than I liked, but set things up to make me read the next one. If you love creepy books then this book and this author is the one for you. ( )

“Confess!”
As always my reviews are based off of my true and honest opinion and I do my best to keep all reviews spoiler free.
After his car runs out of gas. Patrick is picked up by a priest and they decide to stay the night at a near by motel called Kurtain Motel. Its a motel that is basically in the middle of nowhere and have only a handful of others staying. Not long after checking in Patrick and the others start having nightmares about there greatest guilt. That then turn into waking nightmares. After that Patrick starts to suspect that things might not be nightmares at all, and what ever it is, wants there confession.

Honestly I'm not too impressed with this one at all. Its a very confusing beginning due to all the different points of view. The middle was a little less confusing but it fell flat for me. It never held my attention and took me far to long to read for a short book. The ending was so dissapointing. Not only did it happen so quick that I had to reread the last two chapters cause I missed it, but it didn't explain anything that happened. There was no explanation as to what it was and what it wanted other then a very vague one in the middle of the story that told almost nothing. I can see what the author was trying to go for with this book, but just didn't make it. ( )

I received a copy of this series through a Librarything giveaway (this was during the summer, so a little bit ago, but I wanted to follow through with a review). The book wasn't super captivating to me; it didn't keep me very engaged, but I liked the premise and characters decently enough. I really wanted to like it - it had been some time since I'd read a good mystery - but it was just sort of dull yet filled with extra descriptors. I'm not sure how these two things coincide, but they did in this novel. I think a lot of people will really like this; unfortunately, it's just not for me. ( )

"Confess"

When author Patrick Lahm finds himself stranded when his car breaks down in a rainstorm, and accepts a ride from a priest, he had no idea this would end up being one of the longest nights of his life.
Diana Bren, a B-Movie Queen...Cameron, a baseball celebrity banned from the league for drug abuse...Tara Fey and her young son, Jimmy stranded when their taxi never shows up.....are smong the guests, all find themselves in some way, stuck at the Motel for the night.

Something just feels wrong about this place, and soon the evil that lurks within the walls of this creepy Motel begins reaching into the deepest, darkest corners of their minds, to the root of their souls and confess their sins. It chases down their souls, possesses their bodies and senses....it reminds them you can never out run your sins....

This was really creepy, it felt the eeriness and darkness....excellent start to Sin Series...
Loved this horror story! Perfect for a rainy night..... ( )
