It is Year One of a two year daily devotional.This has been a seven year project, fully updating Spurgeon's 600,000 word classic, originally titled The Interpreter, and replacing the King James Version with the English Standard Version. Great care has been taken to retain Spurgeon's views and illustrations while replacing 19th century British English with 21st century American English. Selections for Year One are mainly from Genesis through Second Kings. (Year Two has passages mainly from the Old Testament Prophetic Books and the New Testament.) Psalms are interspersed among both years.
