yesterday i was the moon centers around themes of love and emotional loss, the catharsis of creating art, and the struggle to find one's voice. Noor's poetry ranges from succinct universal truths to flowery prose exploring her heritage, what it means to find a physical and emotional home, and the intimate and painful dance of self-discovery. Her poetry and art has already inspired thousands of fans on Instagram to engage with her words through visual journal entries and posts of their own, and her fan base only continues to grow.… (altro)

Winter (Jan 2021 - Christmas Gift);

A gift from a dear friend for Christmas, this was a snuggled up in bed read that gave me so many feelings. The empowerment and survival theme across the whole set have made me so happy. ( )

Name: yesterday I was the moon
Author: Noor Unnahar
Genre: Poetry, Love, Self healing
Review
A beautiful collection of poetry and prose in which the poetess discovers life, love, heartbreak, loss, hope and healing. A personal lyrical antidote which will keep us going.
The poems are empowering and somehow so relatable. I especially love the part where the poetess describes how she got her name, Noor. I found the poems have vibes similar to Rupi Kaur and Amanda Lovelace, or a mixture of both. Her poetries are short, deep and has profound effect on the readers.
The verses are beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time, which will keep us hooked to this series of poetries till the very end.

I wanted to add another poetry book because I love good poetry, however this was not one of my favorites. This book contain themes of art, people, home, courage, self-love, strength, culture, acceptance, and survival. The reason I read it was because the cover caught my eye. It is light pink with a pretty picture of a silver moon. The poems inside are mostly pretty short, however, I do enjoy reading their messages. I think the abruptness of a few of them adds to the meaning of it, making it more urgent and simple. I was disappointed because, unlike the other poem I have shared on here, this poem does not have as intricate and detailed drawings. In fact, it doesn't have many drawings at all, leaving some of the pages quite bare. I think with such simple messages, a picture to go along with it would have been more engaging for the reader. Another thing I didn't like as much that the other poetry book did have was order. This book's poem theme/messages were random throughout the book. I like when it has a whole chapter at a time of one theme, for example multiple pages in a row of self-love or strength. Instead, it is more spread out and less organized which I personally don't like as much, but I would be interested to know if there was a reason behind this. ( )
