Signed by the author. Oh I was not expecting that to go that way at all. I felt the first half was a bit too transcripty and, while focusing on the important, not a captivating story, but it actually set up the ending scene very beautifully. This book was more a statement novella than something super drawn out and plotted, but it did a beautiful job of giving Justyce a voice and shedding light on the seemingly insurmountable pressures young black men face. And honestly, the amount of forgiving and acceptance he shows is way more than I'd be capable of. Thought provoking, timely and engaging story driven by racial elements Justyce reminds me a lot of some of my high school cronies having grown up in a very diverse community. Using letters to MLK as a sounding board, his encounters remind us how deeply divided the culture remains. Nic Stone paints a picture of hope, love, challenge and despair amid a background of prep school. A mother battling past racial issues while her son falls for a white girl, is the tip of the iceberg. Well developed characters and a pace that keeps the reader engaged, I will be reading the sequel, Dear Justyce, soon! Despite its relatively small size, this book is heavy. Most of the topics it discusses have no one right answer, and they're tough but important things to talk about. From a literary standpoint, I loved how [author:Nic Stone|13525503] used a variety of different written formats, such as television audio transcripts and narration, to tell the story. I think everyone should read this book. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
