This is a lively and engaging account of the (surprisingly) fascinating life of a museum curator. In it, Vikan details several interesting episodes that involve stolen artwork, questionable provenances, greedy and underhanded art dealers, rich benefactors, odd and ultimately criminal museum night guards, and visits with lawyers, Ethiopian ambassadors and church leaders, and thieves, just to name a few. Gary Vikan has certainly seen it all, and he takes us along for the ride. His experiences and adventures are written in a lively and engaging narrative, which make for very interesting reading. Some of the stories he retells take us along on his original journey of discovery, so that some of the tales are as interesting as detective stories, bringing us from one clue to the next, from one meeting and event to the next, until the final satisfying conclusion. Who knew art curating was so fascinating? nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
