[Young man with a horn]: With a second-hand trumpet and the guidance of a brilliant bluesman, a lonely boy grows into manhood as a superb musician whose talent carries him from honky-tonks to posh supper clubs. But his desperate search for the elusive high note, trapped in his mind but impossible to play, starts him on a boozy downward slide. [Lullaby of Broadway]: A singer newly arrived in New York is destined for Great White Way fame. [Love me or leave me]: The true tale of Ruth Etting's life with the man who boosted her career with strong-arm tactics yet smothered her in an obsessive grip she escaped at great peril. [Billy Rose's Jumbo]: Based on Billy Rose's musical and featuring circus sequences directed by Busby Berkeley, the story revolves around a circus owner (Jimmy Durante, star of the 1935 Broadway original) with only two real attractions: his daughter (Day) and popular pachyderm Jumbo. Three-ring pandemonium breaks out when a handsome rival (Stephen Boyd) infiltrates the circus, and father, daughter and Dad's wisecracking fiance (Martha Raye) are suddenly at risk of losing the greatest show on earth. [Please Don't Eat the Daisies]: Kate MacKay is the mother of four hellions and the long suffering wife of esoteric drama critic Larry MacKay. With her husband under seige by every actor, director, and producer in town, Kate decides to move the family to a home in the country -- and in the process leaves her husband open to the temptations of Broadway star Deborah Vaughn. Before too long, Larry's swelling ego threatens their happy home. [Calamity Jane]: Deadwood, Dakota Territory, is largely the abode of men, where Indian scout Calamity Jane is hard-riding, boastful, and handy with a gun. But the army lieutenant she favors doesn't really appreciate her finer qualities. One of Jane's boasts brings her to Chicago to recruit an actress for the Golden Garter stage. The lady in question appears (at first) to be a more feminine rival for the favors of Jane's male friends, including her friendly enemy Wild Bill Hickock. [Pajama game]: Employees of the Sleeptite Pajama Factory are looking for a whopping seven-and-a-half cent an hour increase and they won't take no for an answer. Babe Williams is their feisty employee representative but she may have found her match in shop superintendent Sid Sorokin. [Glass bottom boat]: Jennifer Nelson and Bruce Templeton meet when Bruce reels in her mermaid suit leaving Jennifer bottomless in the waters of Catalina Island. She later discovers that Bruce is the big boss at the research lab where she works. Bruce hires Jennifer to be his biographer only to try and win her affections. Meanwhile, Bruce's friend General Wallace Bleeker believes she's a Russian spy and has her surveillanced.… (altro)
