English librarian Nina loses her job when her library closes. She decides to sell books out of a van, which she finds in a Scottish village. Now she needs to learn how to drive it without stalling out on a RR crossing (meeting a hunky Latvian engineer, Malek, when she does that). Finding a place to stay - with grumpy farmer Lennox. Her idea is a hit, her roommate pushes her to get out to the local festivals, and a book in a book "Up on the Rooftops" pulls the narrative along nicely (and Up on the Rooftops doesn't exist). In the end, will she wind up with Marek or Lennox? 3.5 stars? This has all the makings of a book I'd love. Nerdy librarian turned bookstore owner moves to quaint small town and falls in love with gruff local with a heart of gold. I enjoyed the characters and the plot very much including the red herrings but I think there needed to be a little more behind the central romance. It went from ice cold to red hot with almost nothing in between and even the bit of drama that tried to insert itself in the end blew by too quickly to worry about. I'm judging harshly here, I think, because I feel like I should have loved this book instead of just finding it OK. Another minor nitpick - the title really doesn't make sense once you've read the book. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Nina Redmond is a literary matchmaker. Pairing a reader with that perfect book is her passion... and also her job. Or at least it was. Until yesterday, she was a librarian in the hectic city. But now the job she loved is no more. Determined to make a new life for herself, Nina moves to a sleepy village many miles away. There she buys a van and transforms it into a bookmobile--a mobile bookshop that she drives from neighborhood to neighborhood, changing one life after another with the power of storytelling. From helping her grumpy landlord deliver a lamb, to sharing picnics with a charming train conductor who serenades her with poetry, Nina discovers there's plenty of adventure, magic, and soul in a place that's beginning to feel like home... a place where she just might be able to write her own happy ending. Quiet bookish librarian Nina Redmond finds herself out of work when the library in her hometown of Birmingham is closed to make way for a new multimedia centre. She decides to pursue an unlikely dream and set up a mobile bookshop in a van. After buying the van in rural Scotland she discovers she will be unable to conduct her business in Birmingham and reluctantly, nervously heads back to rural Scotland to try and meet the needs of the book-hungry locals there.
She meets the charming and romantic Latvian train-driver Jaz Mehta, finds a cottage to rent from the dour and maddening farmer Lennox, and meets struggling bookworm teenager Asling. Along the way she discovers she is braver than she had given herself credit for and learns she has new hidden talents such as delivering lambs and ceilidh dancing.
This was a lighthearted and charming read. The audio narration was excellent. This is probably the ideal rom-com beach read for a book lover who can’t tolerate too much drooling over biceps in a romance. ( )
