I enjoyed learning about the true events of what later became legends, but I felt the story was way too short and simple to leave a lasting impact. Since the actual history differed from the legend, I expected to be surprised by some events, but it went such an obvious route that there was no surprise at all.
The beginning was sweet and the growing feelings between Jafir and Morrighan felt believable given the time they spent together but I wish we could have seen a bit more of those interactions. The characters missed more depth for me. Morrighan is too similar to Lia, and Jafir and his circumstances to Kaden. Maybe that is on purpose but it just makes it even more into an extra to the series rather than a story that could stand on its own. Which is fine as that is obviously how it was written.
I also wished we received more of an epilogue that would maybe explain more about how the legends misinterpreted the history.
Overall, it's a pleasant enough read for the fans of the series. (
