This book is a picture book biography about Trombone Shorty, an African American musician, and his story to making his dreams come true. I think that this would be a book for students interested in music, so it would be a good book to have in your library for inclusivity and for students interested in music. I also think that this book would be good for a variety of elementary age students. Great little book written by Trombone Shorty himself talking about his childhood in the Treme district of New Orleans. He got his first trombone at age 4 and hasn't let go of it since. He has played all over the world but always comes back to New Orleans. He has used his fame and fortune to found the Trombone Shorty Foundation. Together with Tulane University it has helped young New Orleans musicians. I've seen Trombone Shorty several times and he gives a great concert. Nice to know he also gives back to his community. An autobiographical account of Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews' youth as he discovered a love and appreciation for music. Collier's illustrations convey the movement of the movement and some of the wonder he had with the trombone at a young age. It didn't take long for Andrews' musical career to take off - he began playing with Lenny Kravitz's band at age 19 - and this telling of his journey will likely serve as inspiration for young people who also find joy in making music. Goodreads Reviwe: Hailing from the Tremé neighborhood in New Orleans, Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews got his nickname by wielding a trombone twice as long as he was high. A prodigy, he was leading his own band by age six, and today this Grammy-nominated artist headlines the legendary New Orleans Jazz Fest. Along with esteemed illustrator Bryan Collier, Andrews has created a lively picture book autobiography about how he followed his dream of becoming a musician, despite the odds, until he reached international stardom. Trombone Shorty is a celebration of the rich cultural history of New Orleans and the power of music. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
