{My Thoughts} – Delia is a sixteen year-old girl that inherits and Insane Asylum when her Great Great Aunt Cordelia. Delia also happens to be named for her Great Great Aunt Cordelia. It isn’t until they arrive at the property that her and her family begin to understand what the building had actually been used for when it was fully functioning.

The plan is for Delia and her parents and younger sister to spend three months fixing the place up so that they can sell it to perspective buyers. What happens instead was not what had been the plan, but what seemed to be fate in an odd twisted since of the word.

Delia senses something is wrong when they are to spend their first night there. She explores a bit, she gets incredibly spooked and then she begs her family to leave and leave now. That isn’t what happens though, they don’t they and the family pays a terrible price because of it.

Delia spends most of her time trying to find clues as to why her Aunt killed herself off of the property. She tries to find ways to cope with what has become her new reality. She tries to find ways to help herself understand why things had turned out the way in which they had turned out and what she can do to help improve the current situation instead of making it worse. She tries and tries and tries some more. Eventually as the story begins to unravel many questions are answered, many things will make sense, many things will leave you wanting to tear up because there are some incredible emotional scenes in the book.

This book in my opinion is incredibly well written and if you enjoy things on the paranormal, extremely light horror side I am certain that you will enjoy reading this book just as much as I did. I cannot wait until my children are old enough to read books like these because I am certain that they will enjoy them as much as I do. ( )

I loved the first part of this book. The second... not so much. I came into this book having read the summery, I thought the main character (Delia) and her family were fixing up the asylum to sell. Which they were for like the first few pages. I assumed that they would be doing that for the majority of the book and ghosts would be haunting her family. It was nothing like I had expected. And not in a good way.
I think this had potential to be a great book, but it just wasn't for me. ( )

A fast, fun read that isn't scary or creepy despite being set in an abandoned insane asylum. ( )

Fun teen horror. Snarky and, at times, funny main character. ( )
