Book two of a historical fantasy series set in a world I am really enjoying (think Jane Austen + magic + Roman and Celtic goddesses and gods - very fun!)

Sophie and Gray head to what we would call Scotland. Women have more agency there, and Sophie is learning magic. Including some of the ways in which magic is different there. ( )

An entertaining Scottish adventure for Gray and Sophie, while Sophie's more interesting non-magical sister Joanna displays interesting agency. The Scottish characters are interesting and varied, though I worry for a leader who keeps so little track of his potential adversaries. Still no attention to dress, and I'm not terribly attracted to the type of magic that is the basis for these books. ( )

Not as good as book 1, not sure if writing (style) needs more development ( )

This is even better than the first book! I love the world-building, I love the characters, and I love the plots. Strongly recommended! ( )
