On Halloween, a man is killed outside of Clint Barton’s (A.K.A. Hawkeye’s) apartment. The victim had hacked SHIELD’s system, gaining information about agents all over the world. Instead of turning it over to his crime boss, he wants to come clean with SHIELD. This is what gets him killed. Deadpool, who was trick-or-treating in the neighborhood with his daughter, wants to help with the investigation. Kate Bishop, also Hawkeye, assists the pair as they try to find out the victim’s buyer and why there are mind-washed people trying to fight them.
Deadpool felt a bit like a toned done version of himself. He wasn’t quite as funny or as full of heart as he usually is elsewhere. The Hawkeyes were great and Kate Bishop remains forever and always the Best Hawkeye. The story was fun and a little goofy, with classic Hawkeye-isms as well as Deadpool-isms. I would love to see this team-up again, though I think Kate and Clint might disagree. If you are a fan of any one of these characters, you should pick up this book. It’s great in that you really need not have read any other Hawkeye or Deadpool book to read this one—it’s a nice little self-contained story. ( )
